How a English board works

One tile holds one letter — the familiar arrangement. PLATE is five tiles.

Every guess is answered colour by colour: green where a tile is exactly right, gold where the tile belongs in the word but not in that place, and grey where it does not belong at all. Six guesses, one word a day, and the same word for everyone playing in English that day — it is generated from the date, not fetched from a server, so it is the same on every device and it works with no connection.

What is different about English

English is the one language here with a genuine choice of length rather than a choice of difficulty: three letters is a different game from five, not an easier one. A three-letter board gives you six tries at a space small enough to brute-force, so the interesting play is in spending guesses on letters rather than on words.

The keyboard and the word list

The keyboard is the standard English layout, and it colours itself as you learn which letters are out.

Answers come from the established public five-letter answer list plus a separate curated three-letter list; valid guesses are a much larger dictionary, so obscure words are accepted as guesses without ever being the answer. Easy is three letters, Hard is the classic five.

Nine more games, three of them in English

The day's word is the start. Three other games meet it in English itself: Wordz Hunt hides its letters in a drawn scene to tap around in, Set Wordz is a sliding-tile puzzle you push into shape until the words appear, and Chill Wordz is a blast board with no clock and no way to lose. Six more play in English — a crossword, a letter sudoku, snooker, archery, an arcade catch and a bunny maze. Full rules are on the how to play page.
